Ecology: Bogs, pond margins on floating sphagnum mats
Blooming Period: August to September
Typical Height Range: 1 to 2 feet

 What to look for in the field: 
  Capitulescence is in the shape of a corymb, though for few-flowered specimens, the corymb may appear somewhat lax.  Branching is minimal.
  Stems are thin, wiry and few-branched, pubescent and becoming glandular upwards.
  Lower stem leaves are deciduous at flowering.  Mid- to upper stem leaves are numerous and crowdedThey are linear-lanceolate in shape, glandular, and the edges are curled under  slightly (revolute).
  Rays are pale blue-violet, pink or nearly white.  Disc florets are yellow.  Heads are on long peduncles and are nodding in budView image of involucre and phyllaries.
