| Array:
As used here, one of several ways in which flowers or (composite flower heads) can be
arranged on a stem or branch. In the example below, flower heads
are arranged in one-sided arrays (secund) on
each of the branches. Other examples of arrays include racemes,
panicles and corymbs.
This term is also used in some texts to refer to the entire area in which flower heads are located on a plant (i.e., capitulescence). |
