Phyllary:   A tiny modified leaf which is part of the involucre of a composite flower head or capitulum.  Similar to a bract in non-composites.  The term "involucral bract" is used interchangeably by some scholars.  Shown below:   Symphyotrichum pilosum var pringlei.
