Ecology: Sandy or rocky disturbed areas; sunny / open; coastal plain.
Blooming Period: August - October
Typical Height Range: 1 to 3 ft.   (3 - 9 dm)

 

 What to look for in the field: 
  The capitulescence is corymb-like, flat- or round-topped.  Heads are numerous, located at the tips of branchlets on very short peduncles or in glomerules - NOT in one-sided arrays.
  Stems are straight, glabrous or sparsely pubescent upwards.
  Stem leaves are abundant, often with tufts of smaller leaflets, narrowly linear and densely glandular, some deflexed, with one prominent main vein, sometimes with secondary parallel veins.  Fragrant.
  Rays are yellow and short, but evident.
