The sun was setting and I noticed this Common Ringlet butterfly settling in for the night.   I rushed off to grab my camera, and hastily set up camera and tripod on the opposite side of the butterfly - away from the sun so that I wouldn't cast a shadow on it and scare it away.   It was more interested in getting some rest than escaping from me, for it allowed me to spend quite a bit of time photographing it.   It was interesting to watch the little critter gradually fold in its forewings wings, creating a more compact profile, allowing it to be less easily visible to potential predators.
