I visited the Eshqua Bog in Hartland, Vermont in mid-June a number of years ago.  I was there to help inventory the flora of the preserve.  Time didn't permit doing photography that day, but these lady-slippers begged me to take their picture.  I knew I had to get there very early the next morning, when the light was good.  I made the 50 mile (+/-) drive, leaving before daybreak.  Thunderstorms accompanied me home the night before, but the raindrops and dew remained through the night, to help ensure some great photographs.  I recall the stillness of that summer morning, which was broken only by the intriguing song of a veery in the surrounding woods.
